Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Cryptic Fox ("Cryptic Fox," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit cryptic-fox.com, use its tools, read its content, or contact us.
In brief: Cryptic Fox is designed to process tool inputs in your browser. We do not operate an account system, sell personal information, or use an advertising or analytics SDK. Information you submit through the contact form is different: it is transmitted to our form-processing provider so we can receive and respond to it.
1. Information we handle
Information you provide
If you use the contact form, you may provide your name, email address, subject, and message. Please do not send passwords, private keys, confidential investigations, or sensitive personal information through that form.
Information stored in your browser
The Forensic Index tool stores the corpus and word suggestions you choose to save in your browser's localStorage. This information is intended to remain on your device and is not sent to Cryptic Fox by that tool. You can remove it using the tool's controls or your browser settings.
Technical information
Our hosting and delivery providers may receive ordinary technical information associated with a web request, such as IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, referring page, and date and time. This is generally generated by the infrastructure needed to deliver a public website. Cryptic Fox does not currently add a separate analytics service or advertising tracker.
2. How information is used
- To publish, operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the website and its tools.
- To receive, route, and answer contact requests.
- To understand and improve reliability when information is available through hosting or security logs.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect the site, users, and others from abuse.
We do not use message contents or uploaded files for advertising. Browser-based tool inputs are not intentionally collected by Cryptic Fox, although your browser, extensions, network, or a third-party resource can have its own behavior.
3. Services and third parties
Cryptic Fox relies on service providers and external resources to function:
- Hosting and delivery: the site is published through Cloudflare Pages and delivered through Cloudflare's CDN and security services. These providers may process technical request data under their own policies.
- Contact form: the About page submits form fields to FormSubmit. FormSubmit may process and retain the submission to deliver it to us. Review its current privacy terms before using the form.
- Libraries, fonts, and media: some pages load resources from providers such as Google Fonts, jsDelivr, cdnjs, Chart.js, Tesseract.js, YouTube, and Ko-fi. A request to an external provider can expose technical information such as your IP address and browser details to that provider.
- Support and affiliate links: Ko-fi and merchants linked through the site operate independently. Payments, purchases, cookies, and account information are handled by those providers.
External providers are not controlled by Cryptic Fox. Their own privacy notices and terms govern their processing.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Cryptic Fox does not currently set its own tracking cookies or use a consent-management-free advertising network. The site uses browser storage for the local Forensic Index feature as described above. External providers may set cookies or use similar technologies when you follow a link, load an embedded resource, or interact with their service.
5. Sharing, sale, and retention
We do not sell or rent personal information. We may share information with providers described in this policy, when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect rights and safety, or maintain the service. Contact submissions are retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain correspondence, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes; provider retention may differ.
6. Your choices and rights
You can choose not to submit the contact form, clear site data from your browser, block external resources or cookies through browser controls, and avoid affiliate or support links. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection regarding personal information we control. To make a request, use the contact route on the About page. We may need to verify a request and may be unable to fulfill requests where an exception applies.
7. Security
We use a static-site architecture, browser-local processing where practical, HTTPS, content security controls, and provider security features to reduce risk. No website or transmission is guaranteed to be completely secure. See security.txt for responsible vulnerability reporting instructions.
8. Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the site, contact us through the About page.
9. International visitors
Cryptic Fox is operated and hosted using providers that may process information in countries other than your own. By using features that require a third party, you understand that information may be transferred and processed in those locations subject to applicable safeguards and the provider's terms.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the site, providers, or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Questions or privacy requests may be sent through the About page.
